Hello From Avalon!

Avalon Koolies focuses on breeding healthy, versatile and multipurpose koolies. We were first to import this amazing breed to North America in 2006. Our foundation lines were imported from Australia in 2006, 2009, 2015 and 2019 from Borahview, Coolibah, Montego and Killarah.

We have health tested dogs through Embark and work our koolies weekly on stock. They are excellent Ambassadors for Avalon Dog Training, helping rehabilitate dogs and their owners who seek help from us in problem behaviors and basic obedience.

We concentrate on temperaments, structure and versatility of the breed while paying very close attention to preserving the breed's ability to have an "off switch". Our puppies have gone on to be amazing active family pets and they have also left a mark in the dog sports competition world in agility, dock diving, scent detection, flyball, herding, rally, skijoring and bikejoring and CKC obedience.

You may have seen our Koolies performing in Superdogs Show and TV too. Herding is our sport of choice and we encourage our puppy people to explore this Avenue these dogs were bred for. We promote the preservation of Koolies bred purpose, herding stock.

Our lines have been the foundation lines to many other kennels in N.A. such as Quantum koolies, and Silent K Koolies Canadian cobar Coolies, Snowyriver Koolies, Aurora Koolies, Kittyhawk Koolies, and Dare to Run Koolies, all breeders using Avalon as foundation.. If you have met a koolie in North America there is a very good chance you met an Avalon pup or a relation to one.

Our breeding program extends further pioneering in the puppy industry and setting the bar for others to follow developing an extensive puppy raising program. This has become a standard in the koolie world now as I am happy to witness other breeders have followed suit in this endeavor. We spend 8 weeks preparing and setting up puppies to be the best they can be. A combination of a light ENS program at 14 days old, followed by a repertoire of sensory experiences, social focus with other dogs and people, daily environment enrichment to help build confidence and nurture their natural curiosity.

We are very hands on and dedicated to make sure Avalon babies hit the ground running when they transition to their Homes. An important part of our hands on approach is we DO NOT allow pups to be "chosen" or placed on a "first come first serve" basis. We perform a series of puppy testing, similar to the Volhard puppy testing. We pair these results up with our puppy questionnaire and knowledge of the homes on the waitlist and pay close attention to MATCHING the puppy to the right home. The versatility of the breed leads to a wide range of personalities and drives. The time spent matching puppies maximizes our successful placements in FOREVER homes. This process requires a lot of patience and trust from the puppies' future owners. It is with this trust and relationship building experience that we become FAMILY.

We're happy to share this wealth of insight with you! If you have interest in making one of our wonderful Koolies part of your family, send us an email from the contact form on the home page, we'd love to hear from you.
